A group of friends and I recently did the Convicts, Culture and Street Art walking tour with Ryan from Two Feet and a Heartbeat. We have been on tours with Ryan before and know that he is a fantastic guide - personable, professional and very knowledgeable. We learnt about the culture and history of Fremantle which Ryan brought to life with his interesting and entertaining stories. We saw magnificent heritage buildings, some of which have now been repurposed. In contrast, there are amazing new developments bringing change to enliven the city, such as the nearly completed King's Square renewal, and there's also a wide variety of street art to admire. So... if you'd like to be a tourist in our port city of Fremantle, and see it from a whole new perspective, I highly recommend you go on this tour. There is so much to see and learn about, and you will gain a new appreciation of what we have here in W.A. At the same time, you will be supporting an excellent local small business during this difficult time of border closures.

Overview

Fremantle is Perth's hip and historical cousin, just 25 minutes from the city — streets full of heritage buildings, cafes, street art and amazing stories waiting to be shared. Once home to whaling stations and mass immigration, "Freo" is now a charming town celebrated for its music, culture and history.

Starting at the Fremantle Visitor Information Centre at Walyalup Koort, you'll hear tales of daring prisoner escapes, see local street art, and learn about the expulsion of Indigenous peoples to Rottnest Island. Find out why almost 10,000 men were transported from Great Britain and Ireland as convicts — and how they built their own prison.

The tour runs approximately two hours with around 60 minutes of actual walking, with regular opportunities to rest along the way.

Explore tour specifics, booking steps, and prep tips to ensure a seamless experience.

Where does my tour start, and how will I find the guide?

Every tour has a designated meeting point, shown on the tour page and in your booking confirmation. Your guide will be waiting in a bright red shirt — and they'll be looking out for you as much as you're looking for them.

Are bookings essential?

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations less than 24 hours before travel are charged 100% of the booking as a cancellation fee. With more than 24 hours' notice you can change your tour date (subject to availability) or receive a full refund on retail tours. If Two Feet has to cancel a tour, prior payments are fully refunded (excluding third-party booking fees).
