Things to Do in Perth for AFL Origin 2027

When
Where
Optus Stadium, Perth

Last updated: 30 October 2026

AFL Origin returns to Optus Stadium on Saturday 27 February 2027, with Western Australia hosting South Australia at 4:40 pm AWST. It is 50 years since the first State of Origin match, and the 2026 game sold out at 58,141. A late-afternoon bounce leaves game-day morning free and Friday night wide open. Here is the local plan: Friday night on the Eat Drink Walk Perth bar tour, Saturday morning in Fremantle, and a slow Sunday in the laneways. The stadium is one train stop from the CBD, or a walk across Matagarup Bridge, so the Perth tours below start close to your hotel.

The Origin weekend

Times are AWST. Check the bounce time on the AFL's Origin announcement before you book around it.

Friday 26 February

  • 2:00 pm: Perth's Premier Pathways, a 2.5-hour city walk from Perth Town Hall to Yagan Square.
  • 6:30 pm: Eat Drink Walk Perth, three small bars, wrapping up about 9:30 pm.

Saturday 27 February, game day

  • 10:00 am: Fremantle Convicts, Culture & Street Art, a 2-hour walk, done by about noon.
  • Afternoon: train back to the city and on to the football festival in Stadium Park before the 4:40 pm bounce.

Sunday 28 February

  • 10:00 am: Fremantle, if you saved the port for the morning after.
  • 2:00 pm: Perth's Premier Pathways, if Friday was a travel day.

Eat Drink Walk Perth: Friday night

This 3-hour bar tour starts at 6:30 pm from Perth Town Hall. You visit three of Perth's small bars, about 40 minutes in each, with two drinks and grazing food included; extra rounds are at your own cost. It wraps up about 9:30 pm in central Perth. $89 per adult.

Ideal timing for Origin: Friday 26 February. Saturday's 6:30 pm departure runs during the game, so Friday is the one to book.

Fremantle Convicts, Culture & Street Art: game-day morning

This 2-hour walk covers the convict-built port, its characters and its street art, with a morning beverage included. It leaves at 10:00 am from the Fremantle Visitor Information Centre and finishes about noon, which leaves time to get back to the city for the pre-game festival. Fremantle is about 25 minutes from Perth by train. $65 per adult, $45 per child.

Ideal timing for Origin: Saturday morning, or Sunday if you would rather keep game day quiet.

Perth's Premier Pathways: Friday or Sunday afternoon

Perth's Premier Pathways is a 2.5-hour walk from Perth Town Hall to Yagan Square through the arcades, laneways and street art: London Court, the State Buildings, Wolf Lane, and the story of how Perth got its name. It leaves at 2:00 pm and finishes about 4:30 pm, with a beverage included. $69 per adult, $45 per child.

Ideal timing for Origin: Friday or Sunday. On Saturday it finishes at 4:30 pm, too close to the bounce.

Every departure across the Origin weekend is on the live tour availability page, so you can book around your tickets now.
