Perth tour operator Two Feet & a Heartbeat have received the “Professor David Dolan Award” for Outstanding Newcomer at the 2011 Western Australian Heritage Awards. The award recognises new talent and excellence in the promotion and conservation of cultural heritage in Western Australia.

“We are extremely honoured to win the award as it is recognition of the hard work that we have put in to showcase the amazing heritage and culture or Perth that is all too often overlooked or completely ignored” says Ryan Mossny of Two Feet & a Heartbeat.

Two Feet & a Heartbeat provide guided tours in and around the Perth metropolitan region, specialising in cultural and heritage based experiences. Two Feet also won the 2010 Western Australian Tourism Award in the Category of Heritage & Cultural Tourism.

“It is a privilege to win an award which is named in honour of someone who dedicated so much of their life to something we feel very passionate about”

Professor David Dolan, who passed away in December 2010, had the challenging task of raising awareness and creating commitment to the value of local heritage in a state that craved progress. As Professor for Cultural Heritage at Curtin University and Chairman of the National Trust (WA), he led the charge to preserve landmarks to bygone eras. Professor Dolan also served as an advisor to the National Museum of Australia and was responsible for the establishment of the Cultural Heritage Course at Curtin University in 1995.

“A shining example of what can be achieved with an innovative idea. The team has developed a youthful, enthusiastic, well researched and active approach to heritage, which is attracting people of all ages.” Marion Fulker, Chairperson Heritage Council of Western Australia.
